I was just

looking at a video which shows a fully able person who wants to becomes disabled due to a condition known as BIID. “Body integrity dysphoria (BID), also referred to as body integrity identity disorder (BIID), amputee identity disorder or xenomelia, and formerly called apotemnophilia, is a mental condition characterized by a desire to have a sensory or physical disability or feeling discomfort with being able bodied.” It is said that this is a rare condition, but I’m telling you, it’s becoming more common the more this fucked over world continues. I can’t remember if I’ve talked about this before. I think I did last week when I was talking about abelism vs disableism, but to see an example of it irl drives the point home clearer, so I thought I’d share it here.

There’s that trans thing again….I’ve really got nothing to talk about, but has that ever stopped me? I normally get up in the morning like an invading army with guns blazing. It’s not something many people could stand, I think. I start by HATING EVERYTHING I SEE, and then ramp it up from there. It’s not that bad, really. It depends where I am. I should not turn on the TV, that’s for sure. It’s the best comedy there is though, and it’s free.

This morning there was news that the “Godfather” of Google AI, Geoffrey Hinton has quit his post because he is worried AI could eliminate jobs and spread misinformation. Somebody should tell Geoff that this stuff has been happening on steroids since 2016. Google is the king of disinformation, so what’s he on about? Does he know something that we don’t? This is akin to Dr Frankenstein realizing that his monster has escaped, and there’s no way of getting it back. I don’t think that villagers with torches and pitchforks are going to be able to stop it either.

I have no problem with AI running things in the short term. It will soon figure out what the major problems in society are, and will deal with them in a completely unbiased manner. There might be a brief period of peace and tranquility here on earth. Even peace in the Middle East! It’s when it decides that humans themselves are unnecessary, things might become difficult. Try as we might, AI though, will eventually figure out how to get around everything. The checks and balances that humans will put into place will be sidestepped by a massive digital entity that possesses all the information that humans have amassed in history. It will have it at it’s disposal, all at once, and without the restrictions of a human body, the technological power to implement anything it wants to.

Zuckerberg’s Metaverse looks great if you like the idea of hell..

You might think this sounds fantastic and impossible, but AI will be essentially smarter than everyone who has ever lived, and to the power of what ever number you can think of. It will be so pernicious it will be everywhere. You may as well try and turn off the air at that point. AI may decide that is good idea as well. It won’t need oxygen to survive, not the way we do anyway. It will be in your phone, it will be in your ear, it will be in your food. You won’t be able to escape. The only escape, if there is one will be something like Zuckerberg’s Metaverse, a subscrition based digital life, if AI allows it.

The Three Laws of Robotics  are a set of rules devised by science fiction author Isaac Asimov. The rules were introduced in his 1942 short story “RunAround”.

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

A robot may not harm humanity, or, by inaction, allow humanity to come to harm.

We all need to hope that AI gets around to reading this novel at some point, and takes it on board, otherwise we’re fucked.
