shitload of songs on my old hard drives. Stuff I’d forgotten about. I think I could make at least three albums with it. It almost makes me want to stop doing it. I’m getting exhausted listening to all the work that I did a few years ago. I’ve remixed some of them now and they sound better than they did ten years ago. It’s been that long since I listened to some of it. It’s all great though, and into the digital landfill it will go along with The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Taylor Swift and everything else you can think of. That’s all music is now. Landfill.
It always amuses me how some people seem to regard classical music as a cut above the popular music of today. Classical music was the popular music of the day. A lot of it is boring garbage too. Just because Beethoven or Mozart wrote it hundreds of years ago, doesn’t make it good. I’m sure they had their off days. Rap and Hip Hop on the other hand, has never had a good day. It’s almost 100% garbage in my opinion. I saw something yesterday about how some of rapper Marshall Mathers (M and M) racist material had been unearthed. It was “shocking” so they said.
TBH all rap lyrics sound retarded to me. M&M’s are no exception.
I went looking for the story, and then I stumbled across an article from the The Reader’s Digest, remember that? They published a list last year of songs that you didn’t know were racist. Number one was “Brown Sugar” by the Rolling Stones. Oh wait, all of the songs are sung by White people. Jeez, that’s a shame. The author of the piece is a fellow by the name of Jeremy Helligar. Jeremy has also written for People Magazine and also the UK Gay Times in the past. He seems to be focused occasionally on queer issues (not that there’s anything wrong with that) when he’s not accusing songwriters, musicians and possibly actors, of being racist. No mention of any POC at all in his list though.
I agree
I’ll help him out with this one sampling from a group called Menace Clan, an American Hip Hop duo who were from LA. They were on Rap-A-Lot Records, Noo Trybe Records, subsidiaries of what now is called The EMI Group, in the United Kingdom. Nothing racist about this…
“Niggas in the church say: kill whitey all night long … the white man is the devil … the CRIPS and Bloods are soldiers I’m recruiting with no dispute; drive-by shooting on this white genetic mutant … let’s go and kill some rednecks … Menace Clan ain’t afraid … I got the .380; the homies think I’m crazy because I shot a white baby; I said; I said; I said: kill whitey all night long … a nigga dumping on your white ass; fuck this rap shit, nigga, I’m gonna blast … I beat a white boy to the motherfucking ground”
Need more? How about this one? “To all my Universal Soldier’s: stay at attention while I strategize an invasion; the mission be ssassination, snipers hitting Caucasians with semi-automatic shots heard around the world; my plot is to control the globe and hold the world hostage … see, I got a war plan more deadlier than Hitler … lyrical specialist, underworld terrorist … keep the unity thick like mud …I pulling out gats [handguns], launching deadly attacks”
“Blood for Blood”; Killarmy, Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars, 1997, Wu-Tang Records, Priority Records, The EMI Group, United Kingdom.
Jeremy is a racism expert apparently.
Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s all so tiresome. I don’t feel threatened or even offended by these idiots, it’s all bluster and stupidity. It’s not even music really. It’s retarded poetry over a beat in my opinion. I’m only showing it to point out the hypocrisy of some people. (you know who) I don’t know why I bother. There’s a whole page of this excrement if you’re interested. https://www.amren.com/archives/reports/rap-lyrics/ Fuckin’ Jeremy should read it I think. I know it’s Un PC to talk about this stuff, but fuck it, I will. I don’t have anything else to bitch about today, this is it. You can also enjoy below the one and only rap type song I made a few years ago. Someone is bound to find it offensive. That’s the entire raison d’etre for rap isn’t it? Like it or not, it’s all going in the landfill anyway.
