It's been a good day so far.
I just came back from the farmers's markety type place that I go to buy produce. I wanted to get some basil and cilantro to make pesto. Years ago, back in Sydney you used to make pesto with parsley and basil. One day I mistakenly bought cilantro instead of parsley and it tasted a lot better me. The next minute I turn around and everyone is making it with cilantro. I'm not saying I invented it, maybe I was wrong with the parsley in the first place? All the internet recipes don't use cilantro or parsley, just basil. What do I know? Mine has cilantro, basil, walnuts, olive oil and tons of garlic, that's it. I eat it not so much as a gourmet dish, but an inner cleansing routine. If you can stand the heat of the raw garlic, you'll love it, otherwise use cheese, hominy grits and elk milk for all I care.
I don't care, clearly. Now that I've had my cafe latte and a blueberry danish I feel a bit like I maybe should have left out the danish. I only bought it because it was yesterday's, and therefore half price. That means that it was the normal price that it would have been without the fake cost of living crisis. I looked at some grass fed organic whole milk. It was $9.99. When you realize that 50 years ago, that's pretty much what you'd be buying by default for about a buck fifty at the corner store, you begin to understand how shitty everything has become.
Cows don't even eat grass anymore. They're fed with grain, which doesn't even make sense given that a cow has about five stomachs to digest the grass that are supposed to be eating. Grass fed dairy products are very expensive now. It's insane.
On another topic the US government is set to execute Nidal Hasan, who was sentenced to death for the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. This bum who killed 13 people and wounded 32 others will be executed by firing squad, marking the first U.S. military execution in more than 60 years. So good things do happen from time to time. I would line him up in front of an M1 Abrams
Live stream it to the public. Probably a waste of good ammunition though. You can't always get what you want.

There was some other stuff I wanted to talk about. Oh that's right. Trump is trying to convince the lunk heads in the senate that we should stop winding the fucking clocks forward and back every year. Nobody likes it, it's bad for your health and it's just fucking stupid and annoying. The news came out today that Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Monday there is no “consensus” yet on advancing a bill establishing permanent daylight saving time even as President Donald Trump ramps up pressure on Republicans to pass it. It appears that there are a couple of dumb fuck senators in northern states who are wetting themselves over "“safety concerns in the more northern and rural states where children get on the school bus in very early hours.” Another one of these holdouts, Tom Cotton has also talked about “safety concerns in the more northern and rural states where children get on the school bus in very early hours.” Well fuck me, let's just hold the rest of the country hostage because these precious brats have to catch a bus in the dark. Let these snowflakes turn their clocks back, I don't care. The rest of us can move forward into the 21st century. God, people (politicians) are stupid most of the time.

Oh boy, it's exhausting thinking about it. The last thing today concerns the passing of Jim Bakker, the disgraced televangelist who was married to the late, great Tammy Faye. I remember arriving here in the 80's and turning on the TV to see Tammy Bakker crying about something. This woman didn't look remotely real. What was I watching? There were rivers of mascara running down her cheeks. Was this a religious program? At some point the Happy Goodman Family started singing a gospel song, so I figured I was on the correct channel. Jim Bakker himself spent nearly seven years in prison for accounting fraud, and after a few stints at various evangelical institutions emerged with his own Jim Bakker Show with a focus on apocalyptic themes and survivalist products. I watched it occasionally. He was constantly promoting prepper goods. "Order your 50 gallon buckets of prepper slop today, it's half off for a limited time. Don't wait for the Rapture, get it now." In 1990, the biographic television movie Fall from Grace, starred Kevin Spacey as Bakker. The casting was pretty good as it turned out.
Oh. we'll miss him for sure. The other black sheep, Swaggart died last year at the age of 90. I'm sure both of these cats are having a wonderful time where ever they have landed.
Good Day
It's a bit early for Halloween, but hey..
