RAINY FRIDAY

feel the bern
It's been raining here since 3 am. I've even got a fire going. It takes ages for it to get the room warm but it's cheap heat. This is the the most bio fuel rich part of the United States, so If you're not burning wood to stay warm in winter, you're not doing it right. It's not too bad now, but in the winter, forgettabout it. It's far too cold without proper central heating which this place does not have.
We do have communism lite though. For some reason (the cost of living crisis?) the town has decided that they want to reappraise the value of the properties around here. It's only going to mean they can raise the property taxes why else would they do it? They've hired an outside firm to go around and look at all the properties and value them. They not only want to look at the outside, but they want to come inside your house as well presumably to see if there some kind of expensive gilded interior that is concealed by falling apart vinyl cladding that has been clinging to the sides of the house for the past 40 years or so.
I caught one of these assessors on a security camera stumbling around last week. He couldn't come inside because there was nobody here. I went to the web link that was on the piece of paper that he had stuck to the door. That didn't work so I called the number that was given. All I got was a voicemail. It was after 4 on a Wednesday afternoon so maybe they had gone home? I left a number but haven't had a callback since then. Do these people actually do any work? It's reminiscent of Bolshevik Russia. Not that I lived through it but the same thing happened there. People would come to your house and decide that it was too big for you and now some other homeless people would be your new housemates.
This is the light version of that. Someone has to walk through your house and see if you should be paying more tax because you have installed a spa bath or you have a 65" TV. You must pay more. It's for the common good. It's like the school taxes. I don't have kids, yet I still have to pay. It's for the common good you know. At least I have an almost unlimited supply of free energy until some Komminist Karen decides that some third world immigrant family with five kids, deserves it more than me.
Happy Friday
Next month I'll be getting the extended band together for some musical adventures if it all goes to plan.
