Trump visited Graceland on Monday but I only just found out about it this morning. Why didn’t anyone tell me? This morning I was watching the BBC as I normally do and they were were talking about opening up the the oil and gas fields again. Did hell freeze over? I couldn’t believe it. It was entertaining to watch the UK’s energy minister keep doubling down on the renewables pitch I must say.
The UK needs “energy security” they were all saying. It’s the new buzzword that you attach to things that due to your own government’s incompetence, lack of forethought or progressive dementia, that are in short supply, are running out, or don’t exist anymore, because you’re too stupid to be in charge of the economy.

Ah, I shouldn’t talk about politics, I know. My band hasn’t returned to the fold yet this week. Jon the bassplayer went to Costa Rica last week for a brief vacation. I hope he got back safely. I doubt we’ll be getting together this week. In the meantime, I’m recording some new material. Sometimes I prefer doing that than hauling guitars and amps even it’s just around the room.
Playing with a band and recording all by yourself are two distinct things. Making music now is like painting. You just don’t need other people. Unless you’re using workers to complete some complicated project, painting is a solo enterprise. Making music is exactly the same if you have to equipment and skills to pull it off.

Most of my output for the past twenty years has been almost exclusively written, played and recorded by me. Not all of it, but I’d say most of it. The only constant has been my good pal Randy Bulpin who played guitar on my very first recording * sometime back in the 18th century. Fortunately he moved to Vermont without my knowledge a few years before I got here. This was helpful because he’s only four hours away by car. It’s funny how things turn out sometimes.

The UK Energy Minister finally sees the writing on the wall
Randy is at the opposite end of the political spectrum to me, but we are still friends. He’s got that English sense of humor that I get, he’s a nice dude and has been playing on my songs for 40 plus years now. It’s good to have talented friends.
Good Day.
Trump’s favorite Elvis song is “Hurt”.. “I’d like you to say hello to my girlfriend Ginger…sit down Ginger”
*”The specific inspiration behind Ian Stephen’s choice of the title Schizophrenia for his 1979 EP is not explicitly detailed in the available information. However, the context suggests it reflects a sense of duality or being “in two minds,” as noted by a reviewer who recalled being “in two minds about the title.” The music itself is described as a blend of Australian Americana and lounge rock with an absurdist quality, rather than a direct commentary on the mental health condition. The title may have been chosen for its evocative and ambiguous nature, aligning with the satirical and unconventional themes present in Stephen’s later work with The Armchairs…thanks AI”
