Earlier today

Looks creepy because it’s the loading dock of the haunted Ocean State store in Newport NH

my phone had less than 14% of the battery power left. It was almost a catastrophe because I was on my way back from the country and I would have been incommunicado for oh, maybe an hour or two. Kids, it was scary. On the weekend I held a Hillbilly smoke ceremony welcome to country type deal. I lit up the BBQ and cooked up some meats and corn. It was very moving. I’ve never welcomed myself to my own country before.

The day before that I spent most of the time putting a new belt on the mower deck. It was quite a work out. I also changed the blades successfully this time. Last time they wouldn’t come off, but this time I used a blow torch to heat them up first. That’s the secret. I couldn’t fix my truck because I didn’t have all the parts. Maybe this weekend.

For a real good time, change the belt on a John Deer 48″ mower deck one day

There’s a long weekend coming up because now there is a public holiday which was given to black people by the Biden regime in 2021, and it comes with the ridiculous name “Juneteenth”. In fact if given the choice of not having a public holiday if it was called called Juneteenth, I would pass on the holiday.

What the fuck does it even mean? According to the oracle of the internet, Wikipedia, “It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday’s name, first used in the 1890s, is a portmanteau of June and nineteenth, referring to June 19, 1865, the day when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War.” If you’re interested you can learn all about the oppression and slavery at that page. It’s a long list, so perhaps make a day of it. Bring some snacks.

Reddit has weighed in on the name, “The name doesn’t even specify a particular day. Every June day from the thirteenth to nineteenth would form the same portmanteau (June + *teenth). If the name only specified the month (e.g. June Day, similar to May Day) it wouldn’t be as bad, but as it stands there is a certain kind of fake precision implied.

It was originally called Jubilee Day (1867-1890). Afterwards, it was changed to Juneteenth by leaders and/representatives in Texas to Juneteenth. ( It was specified as a combination of June and the 19th).”

Thinking about how dumb it sounds, I can’t help being reminded of Augcember from Harry Enfields Dragon’s Den sketch where Ken and Bryan claim they have created a new month by “pinching days from other months” to ensure it has enough days, promising it will “relocate Christmas to 15 Augcember” and provide 15 hours of sunshine daily.”

Whatever man. Let the kids have their candy. I don’t really care.

Good day
