Big Brother

Down Under is protecting our privacy… “In a first for Australian law enforcement, police in Western Australia have deployed live facial recognition technology in marked vans at locations around Perth.

The system scans the faces of passersby and compares them in real time to a watchlist of around 4,000 people with outstanding warrants. The list also includes registered sex offenders and missing persons. When a potential match occurs, nearby officers are alerted.

Andy Pandy fought against fierce opposition and won

Police say the trial of the technology is (get this) “a way that we can increase the freedoms and the privacy of our community”. Yes, Big Brother we will have much more privacy and freedom now that the police can scan our faces as we go about our daily business. The machines will decide if we have committed a crime and if mistakes are made, (one in ten alerts is wrong) you might get stopped, questioned and potentially detained for things you did not do. Thank you Big Brother. Praise Big Brother!

The poles are melting again….

I can’t even…It’s Friday, so lets not dwell on the negative. We a had a short but good band practice yesterday. If I can be bothered I’ll post something from it. It’s posted down below. Today I’m venturing forth to South Eastern New York. I hope I get something good to eat. The weekend will involve the usual farm type activities, and maybe the berries will have ripened up enough to harvest some of them. With luck the shitty Canadian smoke will have buggered off as well. We can only hope.

Thus is my viry, viry sed face.

Back in the world of nobody gives a fuck, and staying in the Antipodes…. “Since stepping down as New Zealand’s Prime Minister in 2023, (there waz no more pitrol in the tink) Dame Jacinda Ardern has been warning against divisive and authoritarian leadership in favor of compassionate and values-driven governance. She says that a tendency towards strongman leadership is missing the mark with voters. The toothy tyrant also said, “voter behavior across Western liberal democracies reflects a growing disconnect between the public and the political system.” You got that right dummy, but not in the way you think it is. Is this dreadful woman plotting a return to politics? I hope to God not.

I said I wasn’t going to be negative but there I’ve done it again. Oops! I’ll promise to do better next time. I have to mention this though, because it’s a microcosm of the mental illness that is plaguing our nation at the moment. “United Airlines is giving reservation agents unusual flexibility to accommodate customers who no longer want to fly to West Palm Beach after the airport was renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.” There isn’t anything I can say about this, other than will this be permanent?

Washington’s airport is officially named Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Will people demand to be redirected to different airport now instead of there now? There are 13 airports named after US presidents, the most famous one being JFK. This kind of thing is just off the wall madness. Somebody needs to find out who came up with this decision because it’s kind of disturbing behavior.

Happy Friday.
