It’s everywhere now, and it’s fucking annoying. Whenever I use a search engine like Microshit’s “Bing”, (google is for idiots) the first thing that comes up is some stupid prompt which then types out a response AI style. It doesn’t need to do this at all, it’s just trying to look smart. In fact it slows the process down, because I have to sit there and watch it type out it’s bullshit before I get an answer, which used to be instant, but now it isn’t. It’s completely retarded and fucking pointless. Even while I’m typing this drivel into wordpress, if I hit “paragraph” I get this..”press space to summon the AI Copilot”. I get this box where I can enter some text. I asked it to write something about how stupid and pointless AI is, but it tells me “Error: the default environment is not set.” The fucking thing doesn’t even work. It won’t be long before half the stuff in the media is manufactured by AI. AI can put a video presentation together now. It can clone voices. It’s going to get to the point where it will be indistinguishable from content made by biological entities.

The Oak Ridge Boys – Joe Bonsall (in blue) passed away a month ago today
I woke up with a headache this morning, and I’ve still got it. I’m going to try and not spend too much time writing this today. I don’t get paid, and I’m my own boss, so I answer to nobody. I found out yesterday when I was downloading some songs to put on my phone to play in the car that Joe Bonsall, the tenor singer for the Oak Ridge Boys had died exactly a month ago today. Not many people would know that the Oak Ridge Boys started out as a gospel group called Wally Fowler and the Georgia Clodhoppers in 1943. They changed the name to the Oak Ridge Quartet because Oak Ridge, Tennessee was the place where they mostly did their singing I have some of their early records, and they’re pretty good. It was in the 70’s that they switched to secular country.

Richard Sturban in the Stamps (far right)
It took them quite a while to get to the point that they are today. After switching to country and signing with Columbia records they struggled to gain success outside of gospel music. It wasn’t until 1981 when they had their big hit record Elvira, that they finally broke through into the mainstream. Elvira had been previously recorded by several other artists, but the Oak Ridge Boys were the first to have a hit with it. Now that Joe Bonsall is no longer with us, it remains to be seen if the Oak Ridge Boys will continue.

Bill Golden is almost unrecognizable here (3rd from left)
Bill Golden the guy with the long hair and beard is the oldest surviving member of the original Oak Ridge Quartet. He replaced Jim Hammil who is the guy who sounds like Foghorn Leghorn in the KIngsmen. Jim apparently didn’t get on with the rest of the group. Richard Sterban, the “oom bop a oom bop a mow mow”, bass singer originally sang as a backup singer in the Stamps for Elvis on tour.
Does anyone care about any of this? It doesn’t matter. At least A fucking I didn’t write it, and that’s a good thing.
The Oaks – they’re all old guys now, but still rockin’
