about Steve Albini yesterday. He died of a heart attack at 61. It seems a bit young, but since there are no details about what killed him, we’re just gonna have to speculate.

It seems Steve was a “storied producer” who also helped engineer some of the greatest alternative rock albums of all time. Among his credits are Nirvana’s In Utero and Pixies’ Surfer Rosa. From the Pitchfork.com article it says about him, “He began recording as Big Black in the early 1980s, channeling antisocial, sometimes violent themes through buzzsaw riffs and histrionic barks, grunts, and whelps, at first backed only by a drum machine (which remained a constant, pounding presence) and soon joined by Naked Raygun’s Jeff Pezzati and Santiago Durango; Dave Riley replaced Pezzati on bass for the band’s two landmark studio albums, Atomizer and Songs About Fucking. In his spare time, Albini would pen screeds in the ’80s zine Matter admonishing bands in neighboring scenes, establishing the firebrand reputation that established him as an eminent rock grouch and *refusenik.”

I can’t say I know much about the guy, or the bands that he was in. I looked at some videos of Shellac and they didn’t do much for me. I will admit that nothing does much for me, so it’s a given that I am unmoved. While I was browsing the Rolling Stone website which also had an obituary of this dude, I came across a headline which said thus..”Every Awful Thing Trump Has Promised to Do in a Second Term. Since “democracy was at stake” I simply had to read it, and I’m gonna share what I found out here.
1. He will indict Biden and his political enemies. 2. He will round up, intern, and deport undocumented immigrants. 3. He will send the military to the border. 4. He will invade Mexico. 5. He will round up the homeless and send the National Guard into cities to fight crime. 6.He will ban abortion nationwide. 7. He will bring back the death penalty in a big way. 8. He will make stuff more expensive by taxing all imported goods. 9. He will reevaluate America’s participation in NATO. 10. He will roll back all of Biden’s climate progress and reinvest in fossil fuels. 11. He will construct “freedom cities” filled with flying cars. 12. He will try to overhaul the education system in the MAGA image. 13. He will torch the First Amendment by going after non-MAGA media. 14.He will legally delegitimize trans Americans. 15. He will pardon the Jan. 6 rioters. 16.He will gut the federal government and take unprecedented control of what’s left.
Who wrote this garbage? A fellow by the name of Ryan Bort, that’s who. I looked up Ryan and this is what I found. “As a graduate of University of Washington’s English Department, Bort has leveraged our commitment to quality writing and critical thought into a career imbued with independence and adventure. Oh sure, he’s very much his own person as a paid shill for the insane ideas of the progressive left. His list is comical. Invade Mexico? Not happening. As for the cities “filled with flying cars”, where did he get that idea? It more likely something that Biden would have said. What Trump said was something along the lines of “Air Mobility”, which could mean drones delivering goods. Who knows? Flying cars sound cool anyway, as long as they use “fossil fuels” and not batteries. I’ll buy one. If Dementia Joe had said it Ryan would be slobbering all over it like….well, I’d rather not say. The hilarious thing about the article is that the majority of the “awful things” on the list aren’t awful at all. They sound awesome. This is what needs to happen. These ideas are sane, reasonable and practical. This is a list that has been made by a person who understands reality. This is a great list. There is nothing wrong with this list. It’s a smart list, I support the list and I hope the items on the list are fulfilled. Unfortunately Steve Albini won’t get to see if anything on it comes to pass though. He sounded like an interesting guy until yesterday when the 4chan autists discovered all his pro vax Twitter posts of the last few years.
