I’m not going to

ramble on too much today. It’s a kind of a grumpy Friday and I have other stuff to do. I have to do lunch with Gazza, it’s his turn to pay, plus he needs bass strings and I have to take him to the Guitar Center to get them. I might buy some guitar cables for myself as well. The ones I bought recently have an unnerving flaw in that if you step on it while it’s plugged into something, the end will simply break off. I know…it’s stupid, right? It’s been really hot this week. Yesterday morning it was almost 90 at 10 in the morning, now it’s back to the high 70’s.

I don’t mind the heat, I would just like the temperature to be consistent, that’s all. It’s the wild extremes that I can’t stand. I’m going to have to start installing the air conditioning units in the windows today, something I’m not a fan of. That’s not meant to be a pun, I’m really not a fan of lugging these heavy fucking things up and down the stairs. A few of them have been in service for quite a long time, probably 10 years at least.

I remember ordering one which arrived all dinged up. I don’t know what had happened but it looked like it had been dropped from a great height. I said I wanted to return it and the dealer just gave me a refund and didn’t ask for the old one back. That battered old unit is still going strong.

This weekend I’ll probably go to Vermont and finish repairing the broken plumbing that I started last weekend. Hopefully nothing else will appear once I’ve fixed that. You fix one thing and turn the water on and then the next weakest part of the chain explodes. It’s so fun.

I have to order a new barbecue. The old one just rusted away. The barrel is still good but the firebox fell off. Another brilliant design, built to fail. Then there’s the truck which needs a new bearing somewhere. It’s screaming like a banshee, but there are a about 6 potential candidates, and I don’t know which one it is. The mower needs a new belt. I can’t remember if I have fixed that already, I guess I’ll find out.

Fortunately the 70 year old tractor is still running after sitting idle for two years because the idiot guy I paid $250 bucks to get it running didn’t think to check if the thing (the condenser) that sends the spark to the plugs was working properly. It’s a $4 part. After years of trying to work out what the problem was, I finally found the solution on some obscure tractor forum. The point is this guy should have known. That’s not another pun either. The fucking point is why in God’s name didn’t this verifiable idiot check the thing? IT’S AN ESSENTIAL PART OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM. My poor tractor sat in the rain for two years. As soon as I replaced the condenser it sprang into life like nothing had ever happened.

“A tractor distributor condenser (also called a capacitor) is a critical ignition component that absorbs the voltage surge when points open to prevent arcing and protect the points from rapid burning.
It works by storing electrons momentarily, allowing the magnetic field in the coil to collapse faster for a stronger spark at the spark plugs.” critical ignition component …moron tractor expert doesn’t check to see if it’s working properly..

Happy Friday

Today’s exclusive video is I Lost My Song from Monday’s rehearsal

While I’m at it how about a couple of the other songs from that same day?
