It’s 9.15

and I’m at a BMW service center, somewhere in Upstate New York. They’ve been nagging me for months..years in fact, to bring my car in for a recall. I’ve forgotten what it’s about. Maybe something to do with the car catching fire in the garage? Perhaps that was the last one. There was another recall prior to this one. That time I took the car to the dealership and they loaned me a big ass X6, which was the latest model at the time. I vowed never to go back there. I asked them to check the alternator while they were doing the work, and they either forgot or couldn’t be bothered. The car broke down on the way home with a flat battery. Thanks cunts.

So they told me this time that it’s going to take an hour and a half, if I can wait there until it’s done. I figure ok, I’ll take a notebook and do some writing. I doubt that this time estimate will be honored, and if fact when I am called up to speak to the guy organizing the repairs he says it will be “an hour and a half, maybe two hours.” Of course it will. There are four people in front of me already. The last time I had a service done at a different dealership, I was there for five fucking hours! I told the guy to forget it and I would call and reschedule. Thanks for wasting an hour of my non refundable fucking lifetime getting there and back you assholes. They don’t care, it’s costing them money and what do they get for it? Nothing. Fuck ’em. It certainly puts me off wanting to ever to own a BMW again.

When I got back I went and got some discount gas for the other car, and bought some bread, so the morning wasn’t wasted.

Odd looking chickens they have in Finland

Breaking News. Bird flu vaccinations in Finland begin within 2 weeks. Oh really? It’s a bit late to start a new pandemic fear campaign, but points given for trying. Up in Canada they have become positively hysterical about it.

This is from a website called the the conversation.com “Academic rigor, journalistic flair”

“Bird flu poses a massive threat, and the potential for a catastrophic new pandemic is imminent. (emphasis mine) We still have a chance to stop a possible humanitarian disaster, but only if we get to work urgently, carefully and aggressively.” Oh, I like this part, “People may wonder why it matters that we prevent a pandemic when we can limit spread and mitigate illness with masks, drugs and vaccines.

It will not be that simple. When COVID-19 first emerged, we had no vaccines available for coronaviruses, and so the development of safe and effective* COVID-19 vaccines was a steep challenge. With H5N1, we’ll be able to apply the same fundamental technologies we use to produce seasonal influenza vaccines by adapting the formulation to whatever form the virus may take in humans.”

So we’re talking about new jabs. Do these not work and kill people as well? Fuck me. This online newspaper is open to outside writers. To become a contributor you must be currently employed as a researcher or academic with a university or research institution. Why not subscribe?

Academics…pfft! The article about the bird flu btw, was written by Matthew S Miller, Executive Director, Global Nexus and M.G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research, McMaster University, McMaster University, Canada. Nothing in it for him, I suppose.

Trustworthy science news…sure

What a shame. I used to like going to Canada, but now the place scares me. Fuck Bird Flu and fuck these assholes who are trying to frighten people with it.

*safe and effective – it’s literally a meme now which means the opposite
