Ah, I’m just having some Friday fun here. It’s easy to sit back and be a critic I know. Remember kids, this is “my opinion”. Yesterday the band got together for another play through of all the songs. It was hot and muggy but all in all it sounded pretty good. The more you play together the more it sounds like a real band. You can look back three weeks and see the difference.
Until such time as if/when we play in public, this will be the only venue you can see anything I do with my three piece orchestra.
Last night I started watching that fakakta “Take 5” series on the ABC. It’s kind of like a Desert Island discs for musicians with very bad taste.
Peter Garret was the first cab off the rank. I won’t say too much about it, other than “rank” is a good word to use here. I thought Peter was smart. He studied politics and law and later became a politician, although that was probably a red flag. His musical choices were odd to say the least. Anyone who lionizes Bruce Springsteen has questionable sanity in my opinion.
His choice of Springsteen’s cover of Edwin Starr’s hit song “War” (originally recorded by the Temptations) wasn’t really a good one. The worst part of it is that Bruce’s version starts off with him lecturing the crowd about how bad everything is. For fuck’s sake, people already know that you dumb fuck. That’s why they’re at your stupid show. They want to get away from that shit. Stupid is as stupid does, I guess. What can you do. Absolutely nothin’!
