I’m going to try and talk about nice things today. On the weekend I determined that my well pump was in fact, operating as it should be. I had to hook up another pump to prime that one, but eventually it kicked in and now I don’t have to spend $700 on a new pump. I do however, probably need a new well unless I can find the one that was working and find out why it is not working.

Don’t think it is mate.
I’d rather be out looking for interesting things to do and people to meet, but it’s been very hot still, and you don’t feel like walking around in 85 deg heat and humidity after a while. I’ve been working on my new song and that’s kind of dangerous because I’ll start trying to finesse it more and more and then overdo it to the point where I won’t like it anymore.

More is more
Less is more, as I have discovered recently after listening to an unreleased project that has been laying around for about 20 years. It’s called Sherry Percussionist and it was never really meant for commercial release. It’s got some great stuff on it, some of which have appeared elsewhere.
The Ballad of Slim Dusty is one such item. That song is basically a stream of consciousness performance recorded over a continuous loop. I recorded it in the haunted basement in the house in Brisbane, California more than 20 years ago.

The track is so far out there that nobody will even begin to understand what it actually is. I’m not boasting or trying to make myself out to be some kind of genius but some of my stuff is literally in outer space. It’s right out there man. Nobody gets it, especially music critics who are the least qualified to make judgements on anything pertaining to music.
For some reason my spell checker doesn’t like the word “judgements”. It makes no sense but then neither do most music critics. The whole album is a compilation of stuff that was borrowed, repurposed and probably rescued from oblivion, as well as some original tunes of mine, instrumental and otherwise. I can’t remember the titles of most of the songs.

Glen Vale – “It was hard to be part of Australian music without coming across prodigious songwriter and vocalist Neil Sedaka who died today.” I guess they’re together again somewhere.
Speaking of critics, Glen A Baker who was an Australian music critic and walking encyclopedia of all that is music, died last week. I never met Glen and I don’t know if he even knew who I was, but I did occasionally see his Facebook page where he was usually planted next to somebody famous.
It was kind of like, “look at me with this famous person”. His more recent and last postings were of him standing next to someone who had recently passed away. Neil Sedaka was the last one he posted. If only Glen had the foresight to obtain a picture of himself standing next to a coffin. He could have posted “here’s me with my deceased self.” Look, I’ve got nothing against Glen, I’m sure he’d find it ironic and funny. As I said, I never met the dude. I’ve got to talk about something . Gimme a break here!

Why, oh why do we need to see the the toilet? Why?
Finally in the world of looney tooney la la land Down Under, the trial of of right wing broadcaster Alan Jones has finally gotten underway. This is from the ABC Australia website…”A court has heard veteran broadcaster Alan Jones allegedly kissed a year 12 student who he had invited to his property at Fitzroy Falls in the New South Wales Southern Highlands. Nothing that the precious Dalai Lama hasn’t done on camera in public* mind you.

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me…
That Alan Jones story and this next one are placed on the ABC website as if they are connected ….Police are investigating whether an alleged attack at a sacred Aboriginal site called Camp Sovereignty in Melbourne was a racially motivated hate crime.”
A racially motivated hate crime???? Was Alan involved? Of course he wasn’t. Who says it was sacred? It sounds like cultural appropriation to me. I can’t wait to see how they figured this one out. It’s a fucking lunatic asylum down there, run by the inmates.
Good Day

*turns out the holy man only wanted the boy to suck his tongue. Nothing really…

Here’s the entire Sherry Percussionist album. It runs at 1 hour and four minutes. I think there were two of them, so this may be the second one. The CD I found was labeled “Progress” whatever that means. There’s artwork somewhere too. I’ll have to find it. Right click to download the audio file.
You will not hear anything like it anywhere. You’re gonna love it.
