It’s been

Good Day mate!

an interesting morning. I had to take my police cruiser to get the yearly inspection. The week before it had thrown an engine light at me, so I thought I would clear it using the software that I have to do such a thing. As modern cars are all computerized now, if something goes wrong you can diagnose the problem at home without going to a mechanic.

This is particularly useful when it’s a non issue which this was. As the weather gets cooler, the car’s engine sometimes doesn’t like the change in temperature. I often get an engine light which turns out to be a random misfire. It’s an error message that means that one of the spark plugs didn’t fire off as it should. It usually means nothing. One you clear it, it usually goes away. If it keeps coming back, it’s a problem.

I cleared it last night using the Forscan software that I have specifically designed for Ford motor vehicles. For some reason I didn’t clear the error, but reset the entire engine. This cleared everything so that the computer had to relearn everything. When I took it to the mechanic for the inspection, it failed every test. The guy told me that I needed to drive it for 50 miles to reset it.

While I was waiting for this initial result I was watching the local NY Fox channel. There was a story about a woman who had become radicalized online, and was plotting to blow up the government HQ in Albany. There was also a story about a car in a swimming poll which nobody seemed to know the reason for. I have to say the images were most amusing. What was she thinking? Anyhoo, I decided to drive the 50 miles to reset the computer and then I would return to get my inspection certificate once it passed the test.

How to not get yourself noticed.

That wasn’t a problem because I’ve been wanting to go to Middletown which is about a 50 plus mile return trip, to restock my Indian supplies. I really like the frozen breads that they sell, and also the samosas which I always get whenever I’m there. It took me about an hour there and back and I exited the through way in an unfamiliar place, not really knowing if I was anywhere near the mechanic I was headed back to.

Nobody knows how or why this happened

So I’m driving down a series of more and more obscure and funky back roads not really knowing where I’m going other than in the general direction of where I wanted to be. Finally I thought I should pull over and google map it. I put in the directions and it said “drive for half a mile and pull right into the parking lot”.

That’s what I’m talkin’ about

Lo and behold, I was less than one minute from where I wanted to go. It was around the next bend. They re scanned the car right away and I was back on my way home in no time. I had bought some samosas at the Indian place earlier so I got to have a deep fried Indian breakfast, which was nice.

That’s just about it. Nothing bad happened and everything was good. I’ve edited up some more band footage from August 14 and posted it on Youtube. The link is below.

Happy Friday
