“Secretary of War Pete Hegseth declared Tuesday that the 11th day of America’s war against Iran would see the “most intense day of strikes” yet against the Islamic Republic.”
I thought you weren’t supposed to telegraph to the enemy what you’re going to do, but hey, whatever. It’s boring. We should be exploring other planets by now, but we’re involved in spats between Middle Eastern people which has nothing to do with us.

I think I have band practice today, not sure. Yesterday the ice and snow was finally melting and it’s currently 65 degrees outside. It’s nice.

Lee
I’ve been watching Youtube videos about Heavy Metal bands of yore. I saw something about Uriah Heep’s drummer, Lee Kerslake who died in 2020. This cat by all accounts was a brilliant drummer who later went on to work with Ozzy Osbourne and co-wrote his first two solo albums. Lee seemed like an affable chap who liked to have a good time. By the end of his life he was more heavy than metal, but he had begun working on his first solo album battling the late stages of prostate cancer. Never give up!

Mick Box
The Heavy Metal movement began with these guys and a lot of these bands still perform today. Uriah Heep still play although I think there’s only one original dude left, Mick Box. They all still wear the same clothes and have the same long, flowing locks, except it’s gray now. Some guys are wearing wigs too, but it’s kinda comical until you look at the audiences that show up to see them. They’re all dressing like it’s 1979 as well. It looks for all the world like a gathering of zombies who enjoy loud music.

Buy all three and wear them at once
While looking at this stuff I was sidetracked onto another story involving American drummer James Kottak who worked with the German band the Scorpions for 20 years. He was also an original member of Kingdom Come, of whom he was their drummer from 1987 to 1989 and again from 2018 to his death in 2024. There is a couple of Youtube videos of an infamous Kingdom Come performance at a Swedish Metal festival in 2022 where Kottak was so out of it that he could barely play the songs.

..until you die at 61 from cardiac arrest
Some of the reviews were quite brutal. Swedish music journalist and guitar player Janne Stark said, “I’ve never seen a drummer fall asleep on stage before but James Kottak is pretty damn close. Drunk? He slows down every song to half tempo. KINGDOM COME, sorry guys but this is SHIT! Edit: they actually managed to make it worse…. Bass solo”, and from Peter Johansson of the popular Swedish site Rocknytt, “the musicians “completely massacred” one of their most popular songs, “Do You Like It”.

Yep, looks totally gone
He also singled out Kottak, writing that the drummer played “really badly, sluggishly” and at times failed to keep the tempo “worryingly throughout the concert”. At the end of the show, Kottak “stumbled to the edge of the stage to bow with his bandmates”.
Sounds very Rock and Roll to me.
