hot one. I must admit I’m not a fan of the climate here. I don’t know where is good. San Francisco probably, although the place is largely fucked by the creatures who inhabit it. I was gonna say people but they’re creatures. People wouldn’t act they way some of them do. I won’t tolerate that stuff any more.

Brian Wilson died yesterday, and it wasn’t unexpected. I saw Brian with the Beach Boys at Bethel Woods (Woodstock) in 2015. They we great, he was great, although he did forget to sing in one part of one song. I can’t remember the song, and neither could Brian, ha ha. The next time was Brian with his own band in Toronto, sometime in the early 2000’s. He was great then too, and may have forgotten words here and there, but there was a dude on standby who played guitar and sang who probably was there to jump in if stuff like that happened.

People all day yesterday were saying that Pet Sounds was a revolutionary album. I don’t know, I preferred Surf’s Up or maybe Smiley Smile. Good Vibrations, from that Smiley Smile album was a mile post of a song in Beach Boys history, you can’t beat it. The band have put out a gazillion albums if you include all the Best Of’s and repackaged and remastered releases. Some of their stuff is naff, for sure and some that is on Smiley Smile. A song like Vegetables would have been better off left on the cutting room floor. All in all the BB discography is a mixed bag, albeit with some real gems inside it for sure.

Brian has taken that tour bus up to heaven now, so there’s no more ground breaking anything coming from him…”So many rock stars fadin’ away, all I can think of is how today I can get to you, a message from me, I feel so lonesome, how can it be?”
The rest of us must carry on I suppose. The Rock and Roll bandwagon continues on. I am but a very small part of it, nevertheless it’s what I do whether I like it or not. So far I like it. It’s not for me to be a tortured genius. As soon as the mainstream starts liking me, I’m probably doing something wrong. This journal is not about me…actually it is. I report, you decide. I’ve run out of things to say. I have had a stabbing pain in my left ear for two days and it’s quite annoying. It’s random, but feels like someone is sticking a sharp knife in my ear. Ouch.

Band practice didn’t happen on Tuesday, but maybe it will on Friday. Yesterday I got creative in the kitchen and made some moussaka, so I can do other things besides write songs that a few nice people listen to.
