It’s President’s Day

General George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River with the Continental Army on the night of December 25–26, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War. *

and therefore a holiday, so I’m not gonna write much. I finally got my internet radio on Friday and I have been listening to radio stations all over the world. One of the first a dialed into was Melbourne’s 3CR, a station that I, myself have broadcast from. It’s still as quirky/nutty/weird/left wing/communist/radical as ever, but that’s what I like about it. You never know what you’ll get, but it will invariably be strange.

It’s not that easy navigating the radio’s interface, but the beauty of it is that it’s portable, just like an old fashioned tranny. You can shove batteries in it and take it anywhere. I don’t have it on right now because the batteries went flat. I took them out of a Furby and I think it had drained the life out of them by just sitting there and doing nothing. Today is band practice day. This afternoon actually, and the weekend after next I have another group of cats over for some more music. (Vid below)

The music never stops here. It does, but only when the power goes out, which thankfully it has not done the entire time this horrible weather has been terrorizing us. The ice rink on the porch hasn’t melted yet, but soon….

It has begun

There’s nothing going on in the news today. The NY Post has an editorial about George Washington. “Washington who emphasized that America was a republic when he rebuked those who wanted a monarchy or an exalted president. He drove that point home by stepping down after two terms to sit “under his own vine and under his fig tree” — his most-cited bit of scripture, from Micah 4:4 .“Washington’s last service to his country was to stop serving,”  Happy Birthday George. (it’s Feb 22, but this is close enough I guess)

So on that note, I’ll stop writing for today.

Good Day.
