It’s the first day of June

It’s 67 deg outside. (I’m not putting in F or C, it’s always going to be F, ok?) Not very warm I must say, although the sun is shining. I just got back from VT. It was a good run. I stopped at Trader Joes in Danbury to get some interesting and exotic food stuffs like pineapple salsa, beef tamales and goat’s milk kefir, which tastes disgusting. Oh well, it’s good for you. Since I’m not visiting my freinds up at the goat farm at the moment, I haven’t been drinking the stuff. I may have to find a new supplier, these people went a bit off the rails I think. I’m kind of scared to go back there. I did call them once but got no reply. I don’t know what’s going on they could all be dead as far as I know. I could call Victor’s brother Dwight and find out I suppose. His number isn’t answering either, so I dunno. I’ll try later. maybe he’s out on a job or something.

As you can see there isn’t a lot going on. Last Friday I called my bank to contest the charge on the air conditioner that I bought from Lowes hardware store which had never really worked properly. I told then that I had tried returning it and that they had refused to take it back, claiming some 48 hour return policy on air conditioners. They told me however that I could call GE the manufacturer, and they would give me a return number and that they would come and pick it up. Of course stupidly I believed them and after being given the run around by GE, I wound up back at Lowes who won’t of course accept the A/C back because of their 48 hr policy.

I figured out that this was a perfect example of the Catch 22 scenario, whereby there is supposed to be a warranty (usually 3, 6 or 12 months) on consumer goods but because Lowes won’t take it back after 2 days, it can’t be sent to GE for warranty repair or replacement. That’s the only way you can get GE service, “it has to go through Lowes”, I was told a number of times. They lied to me about it in fact. I think they are both in on this scam together, and I don’t think it’s legal at all. We now live in an increasingly lawless low trust society however, so they may be getting away with it, time will tell. It’s a level of fuckery hitherto unseen in this country. We have consumer laws to protect people from this kind of thing. Are they not valid anymore?

On the other hand, I went to Ocean State and bought another A/C. I did note that they had a sign with their return policy very prominently displayed. They’ll replace a faulty one, but they won’t give you a refund, which is more than Lowes will give you. Lowes return policy is basically hidden in a wall of text which is a at waist height at the return desk, which you will never ever see if you’re buying one in the first place. They’ll point it out to you when you try and bring it back that you’re too late. That’s the kind of crooks we’re dealing with. Lowes by name and by nature it would seem.

Maybe I’ll have a band practice this week, maybe it will be Thursday. It’s only Monday, anything could happen. I brought back some plants that I dug up at the farmstead so maybe I’ll go outside and deal with them now. Have a great week.

Good Day
