It’s Thursday

so at this point I’m getting ready for the weekend. I have to go up north and fix a few things. Winter is coming so I really have to do something about the plumbing in the basement which invariably freezes over the winter and costs me money to repair. The guy that did the initial work didn’t think things through, and so it has a built to fail feature that always fails. It’s constant work having two houses that are over 300 years old combined.

There’s always stuff to fix. I’m fortunate in that I can fix most things apart from electrical. I tried putting in heat pump a few years ago and it has never worked because I don’t think it’s getting enough power. I’m too cheap to hire someone to make it work, plus there aren’t any repair companies that I trust anymore. Heat pump bullshit is a grifters game, that why it’s being forced on everyone.

But enough of complaining about things. My new go-to source of fake news is the UK Sun, and it’s telling me that disgraced Prince Andrew spends large portions of his day in his sprawling estate, “like a bored teenager, sitting in front of a wall-to-wall television playing video games.” That’s something I’ve never really been drawn to, video games. I don’t have to time nor the patience. I’m too busy fixing shit in these old houses for a start. I doubt Andrew has to fix anything. He’s too busy lying on his massive sofa in a huge sitting room watching TV on a big screen which takes up the whole of a wall.

Poor bugger. If he gets peckish the cook can make him a sandwich, so he’ll not starve to death. So far it’s been a very dull week. Everyone is waiting for the next catastrophe to unfold. Two more weeks probably.

Out in the street I can hear the sounds of a leaf blower. It’s Fall so the leaves are all coming off the trees. Not content to let them lie where they landed, the OCD people around here have to annoy the shit out of everyone by employing monkeys to blow the leaves every which a-way. It’s pointless of course, but they just have to do it. In fact upon closer listening I can hear two distinct leaf blowers. One is in the distance, and the other nearer one has temporarily stopped. My hearing must not be all that bad after playing in loud bands for years.

I still like loud guitars and drums. I’m past the point of worrying about my hearing, I think it’s fine. What is worse is a constant noise which wears out your ear drums. The leaf blowing has ceased now. I can’t hear anything except the ringing in my ears. That’s almost all the time, but think it’s allergies. It’s been windy today and I went for a walk. After that my ears started ringing. I think the wind blows stuff around that makes it worse than it really is. That’s my theory anyway. If you don’t concentrate on it, it’s not even there most of the time.

Good Day
