Finally from the Irish Times, “Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan said he was arrested at Heathrow airport over three X posts expressing his views on trans issues. The 57-year-old said he was detained by five armed officers after flying in from Arizona and told he was under arrest over the social media entries. Mr Linehan said he was taken to a cell and then questioned over the X posts, published in April.
One said: “If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.” Nothing in this story about what his other posts said, but as a condition of his bail he has been forbidden to go on X and post any more stuff that might clash with the alternative universe that the people who believe trans men are real women inhabit.

Whilst I don’t agree with punching someone in the balls, I get it that he was making the point that these are biological men that he’s talking about. Nothing will change that. That five armed officers have to be sent to arrest an overweight middle aged comedy writer with high blood pressure over a social media post, which the majority of people would probably agree with is alarming, but that’s the UK today.
