Just for a change

it’s snowing again. I’m so over it, it’s unreal. I’m listening to 3CR “Melbourne’s Voice of Dissent”, on my internet radio. It’s the middle of the night and they’re playing something that sounds like two drunk guys in a garage . One has an electric guitar that he can’t play and the other one has a drum that he can’t play. It’s an excruciating racket. To be fair it could be two chicks or a chick and a guy. Monkeys might sound better even. I’m gonna have to switch over to RRR, I can’t take it. Over there someone who sounds like they are on diazepam is speaking.

They’re doing station promos at the moment. The announcer has just announced he’s going to play something called Greg Charles and the Ex Catholics, but first up we’re listening to Slim Dusty and Joy Mc Kean singing “Walk a Country Mile”. It’s pretty hokey stuff, but beats the crap out of anything I’ve heard so far this morning. This next track sounds like the Handsome Family but not quite as polished. I guess this is “Gothic Country”, what the fuck do I know? The guy is trying too hard in my opinion. That fucking violin gets really annoying after a while too. Ah, it’s kids stuff.

What else can I talk about? There’s lot going on of course. World War Two has flared up again, and the same characters are engaged in the same horse shit. Back to the radio..I recognize this group. I cannot for the life of me think of the name.

There’s a Cure for this…gettit?

I can see the singer in my mind’s eye. He’s an overweight British Dude with lots of eye makeup. Looks like an aging Elizabeth Taylor gone wrong. Somebody help me out here, you all know who it is…I hate that. I’ll have to wait until the song finishes now. It’s a shitty song too. Would sound at home on the Disney Haunted House ride. It’s going on forever, and his voice is getting annoying as well. “I will never be clean again…” Fuck off already.

It will have to come to me later, because I HAVE TO TURN THIS SHIT OFF! That’s how bad the next song was. I’ve gone to commercial station 3AW. Now they’re talking about Coronation Street. It’s quarter part three in the morning there. I have to stop listening to this. I’ve got washing to put in the dryer. It’s just another normal day here. The Film and TV weasels have gone and it has stopped snowing. I have to go out and buy some groceries, but I’m not taking my nice car, because I took it to the car wash three days ago, and I’m not going to get slush and salt all over it again.

It’s time to wind this up for today. There’s only so much I can contribute to the world of fine literature at the moment. Will anyone be reading this in 100 years? Who cares? Yesterday I edited a couple of songs from the musical summit on Saturday with Gary, Scott and Pat Sharkey. These are the first two that we recorded. I Lost My Song and The South is Gonna Rise Again. It’s not edited or the mistakes removed. There are a couple. Nothing has been rehearsed, it’s as it happened from the get go. It’s what makes it real.

It’s been uploaded to Youtube, and it’s unlisted, so it’s only available via the link below.

Good Day
