the weather is getting warmer it’s possible to do things outside more. I have to figure out how to sell one of my fleet because there isn’t any room in the garage now. There’s a yard sale coming up next month, maybe I can sell it then? I don’t like having yard sales, but I’m happy to go to them. I try to avoid these things now because I’ve already got too much junk. There is a good one up north at the Fire Station a couple of times a year. I’ve gotten some good stuff.
Last year I found a pristine double cassette deck. I think it was 5 bucks. The annual church sale is good too. I like finding old appliances and particularly obsolete audio equipment. Cassettes are almost defunct but I still have a lot of them with band tapes and studio rough mixes, etc. An almost unused cassette deck is gold.

I think I’ve transferred most of the tapes I have into the digital realm now but things keep getting upgraded to the point where a digital transfer in the year 2000 isn’t as detailed as one that you could do today. AI can also enhance things from the point that they were almost unlistenable to something that sounds great now. I look forward to hearing old 78’s restored to 21st Century listening standards if somebody is interested in doing it. Perhaps nobody cares about that old crap. AI is restoring old film, so someone must be doing it for audio somewhere, surely.

I keep finding music that I have recorded and forgotten about. I found an entire album of instrumental compositions last week. I’ve forgotten which hard drive it was on. Imagine how much stuff is in the digital domain in the year 2025? Imagine how much stuff there will be in the year 2525? (if man is still alive) I’d say it’s billions of terabytes by now. It’s growing on a daily basis. Over 720,000 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single day. That equates to approximately 30,000 hours of new content every hour, or 500 hours of video every minute. That’s equivalent to over 82 years’ worth of video being uploaded daily. There is no way anyone can watch all of it. Artificial intelligence can, and it’s currently absorbing everything and getting smarter and smarter.

Where is it all stored is anyone’s guess. YouTube doesn’t reveal these things. The internet says YouTube’s primary storage location is a network of data centers strategically located across the globe. These state-of-the-art facilities are designed to store and process massive amounts of data, including user-generated content.

YouTube has over 2 billion monthly active users, and most of them are watching garbage, I think I can safely say. It’s a horrible thought. It’s far better to go outside.
I’ve decided that it would be amusing to have a regular feature of crazy headlines from my old home town of Melbourne’s newspaper, the Age. Every day since Trump was elected, almost 100 days ago, (it will be 100 days at the end of this month) there have been multiple stories about how the world is going to end because of Trump and his tariffs, plus Musk, DOGE and you name it. Here’s a sample of today’s opinion pieces. Only one story out of four hasn’t got anything to do with Trump.

Not the blowtorch….Like the Biden regime was any better? These people are delusional.
The need for women’s genius? A Catholic nun wrote that I see. Unfortunately I can’t read any of this because it’s safely behind a paywall. These by no means are the only anti Trump stories on the front page of the Age today. I counted eight (yes, eight) others that mention Donald Trump in the headline. So including these opinion pieces there are just under a dozen stories on the front page of the Age that are related to Trump and how dreadful everything is becoming since he was elected. This is the most bizarre period in newspaper history I think I’ve ever seen. Do they know how insane this looks?
There is an election coming up in Australia next month, so no doubt Trump won’t be far from people’s minds during that time. It’s going to be very entertaining to watch what happens. The comedy potential is endless.
This YouTube video is ok. Watch this one.
