The lady (above) was commenting on something that Nicki Minaj said on DW News which is rebroadcast by the ABC at some ungodly hour down under. It’s all a bit convoluted and stupid today, but I’m just here to report the facts. DW News, which is a German TV network was a fountain head of COP30 madness this morning. This fakakta conference is winding down but DW is still breathlessly reporting on the final minutia of the insanity therein. I’m not going to repeat any of it, it’s just the usual dumb shit, but I will put all the fun screen grabs I made on the page here for your enjoyment.

The hysteria here is another level above the BBC and the ABC. As I was watching they cut to a break and promised to come back with a story about how Indian farmers were dealing with climate change. Unfortunately the ABC shut off the spigot at that point to re run the 7.30 report, a more bullshit program you’d be hard pressed to find. I clicked on a replay of the John Laws state funeral only to witness John Williamson performing a rendition of “Hey True Blue” in tribute to Lawsie. Williamson, being the fellow larrikin with Laws that he thinks he is, saw fit to throw in the line “have you fucked off for a smoke?” in the middle of a packed cathedral. Such class these people. Lawsie was smiling down from hell no doubt.

After I turned off the TV in disgust (what else is new?) I set out to write this journal, and that’s what I’m doing now, in real time. The 7.30 Report had a story about author Helen Garner, who is an Australian novelist, short-story writer, screenwriter and journalist. Wikipedia tells us that, “she has consistently won awards for her work, including the Walkley Award for a 1993 Time magazine report. In 2025 she won the Baillie Gifford Prize for non-fiction, for How to End a Story: Collected Diaries. Helen was talking about her latest work, “Collected Diaries”, which she said of, “I never thought that I was writing for anyone but myself and that’s what’s good about them, I think — that I’m free when I’m writing,” Ok, then so why are they being published? Well……..???

Yesterday’s band practice went great. Rick had said last week that he had to do two months worth of laundry, so yesterday he was decked out in a brilliant white top which we’ve never seen before. He also had a bunch of rings on, but took them off after a couple of songs because he said they hurt his fingers while he was drumming. This begs the question, what is Ringo’s secret?
