It’s Friday and I’ve just lit a fire. The wood is all wet so it’s not burning too good yet. I need to get the tree guy back to get him to cut down some big trees and then I’ll have wood to burn. Not that there’s none around here already. There’s enough wood to last decades. It has to be cut up and moved, and it’s in inconvenient locations, however. But enough talk about wood. This week’s “Australian Music is fucked” offering is from a duo who call themselves Salarymen. This is part of their publicity blurb, “Since their conception in 2019, Sydney (Eora) duo Salarymen have been putting their nose to the grindstone and have quickly become a staple of the Australian east coast music scene.”
“With roots set predominately in contemporary indie, Salarymen also give a nod to vintage psychedelia and the timeless formula of call and response.” God I wish these assholes would stop using these Abo* names all over every fucking city. What’s the fucking point? But I digress. I guess I could just leave it out, but I’m leaving it in so that the reader gets to experience the annoyingness of it like I have to. If you’re gonna want to change the name of Sydney to Eora just fucking do it. Obviously you want to. It’s just passive agressive fuckery but that’s what these numbnuts excel at.
So I am going to look up this band and give you my review…I watched a video of on of their songs called Let Me Go. It’s just regular pop music, I didn’t notice any vintage psychedelia, but the call and response thing is just having a catchy hook that people can sing along to in this song for example. Whatever man. 13 k views, they’re doing better than I am. Good luck to ’em. At least they haven’t bought into the LGBTQ plus queer/disabled shit show.
If you’re wondering why I even bother commenting on any of it, it’s because it comes into my in box on a regular basis. I do have an issue with this woke DEI renaming of cities with Aboriginal names , so if i”m going to get that shoved in my face, I feel obligated to comment on what ever else is there because the email annoyed me out of the gate. I’m still a member of APRA whether they like it or not. i don’t have anything else to talk about today, so I may as well take the oppurtunity to offend as many snowflakes as I can, right?
Nobody gives a rats ass what I do now anyway, and the same thing is going to happen to 99% of these bands. Enjoy it while you can kids, because like the Chinese army, there’s always another band coming over the hill to take your place. It’s all so tiresome. I have to put a new belt on my ride on mower tomorrow, that’s my excitement for the day. Should be awesome.

*The great oracle Wikipedia tells me that “Abos, is an offensive abbreviation for Australian Aboriginals.” Wikipedia also says climate change is real, so why should I believe them? I don’t mean it to be offensive any more than Aborigines calling themselves “First Nations People” is not meant to be offensive to Non Aboriginals (or so they say) Does it mean that everyone else is a Second Nations person.? Maybe a second class citizen? Don’t they realize how divisive and offensive it sounds? By the way, I’ve never seen so many “white” Aboriginals roaming around Australia as long as I can remember. What hell is going on down there?
