Sometimes the left hand

doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. The Victorian government, I learned this morning has decided to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 13 to 14 because “their young brains have not fully developed, and they don’t fully understand the consequences of their actions”… or words to that effect. I REALLY DO hope they pass info that on to the people who are grooming children of the same age into the idea that you can change your sex by way of surgical mutilation and a lifetime of medication. I’m sure there are wise heads discussing this right now.

Do I think it will happen? Nah. Victoria is a police state. I should know. I grew up there. I was born there. I lived there for decades. It has been overseen by thickheaded numbskulls on both sides of politics for ever. Nothing has changed actually. Let me rephrase that. It’s a backward police state. There, that’s better. I don’t wanna talk about it though. If it didn’t exist, I wouldn’t care. My sympathies lie with the sane people who have to put up with the oafs and oafessess who run it. I don’t wanna talk about politics, it’s boring.

Bourke St Melbourne in the 70’s

As I’ve been looking through the many compact disks that I have in my possession, I’ve been finding a lot of music that I recorded and simply forgot about. Some of it isn’t bad. For every album track, there is probably three other songs, or partial songs that exist that never made it past a final mix down. The attrition rate is fairly high, but it might be time to let some of these monsters out. What sounded weird and unfit for general consumption, sometimes later sounds interesting. I don’t know. I’m still thinking about it. The Slim Dusty song I posted a couple of days ago, almost didn’t get released. The vocal was originally just a guide, and improvised on the spot, but I thought it sounded better than anything I could write. I don’t know why I’m talking about any of this in the first place. It’s 10,000 feet above most people’s heads, and nobody fucking cares. Maybe an advanced race will appreciate some of it 3,000 years from now, but probably not.

It sounds like I have tickets on myself. I probably do. If I don’t put ’em there, nobody else will. I’m out here “blowing my own trumpet”, as my grandmother would say. It’s not a bad thing necessarily. I will say that my new song, “Everything’s a Lie”, that I posted on Youtube 5 days ago is doing better than anything else so far. 155 views in 5 days doesn’t seem like much, but it’s three times faster viewage than normal. Who are these people? It’s good to see, but there’s no way of knowing how long they stayed to watch the whole thing. I know I sometimes click on stuff, but after 10 seconds I decide I hate it. This could be happening to me. I know nothing. To change the subject, I found a great app a couple of weeks ago that recognizes a piece of music that it hears, and tells you the title and artist. While I’ve been searching through all this crap that I have, I came across some music that I recorded a really long time ago on some reel to reel tape. For a long time I have never known who the artists were, because I was taping it off the radio, and stopped the tape when the announcer started talking.

Speakers too close together in my opinion

This fucking app is like magic. It’s AI of course, but it’s allowed me to identify most of this music and download way better copies than what’s on these ancient, scratchy recordings. I was quite excited when it gave me the first result. OMG, I fucking love science now! (I almost said)

ps The app is called Shazam. It’s free.
