the axeman goeth

Thursday, January 12. Jeff Beck passed away yesterday. It was unexpected, it was bacterial meningitis, so they said. The poor bugger suffered a fractured skull in a car accident in the late 60’s, so maybe that finally caught up with him, who knows? Anyhow, he was a great guitarist. Some friends gave me his Blow By Blow album for a birthday present years ago, and I just started playing it again last year. What can you do? At least we have his music to listen to, which is what I’m doing now. Today it was very cold, and I thought it felt like it would snow, but that’s not what happened, not even a lot of rain, thank goodness. The rest of everything is bullshit. It looks like they’re trying to get rid of Dementia Joe in time for the 2024 elections. I can’t wait to see who they’re going to put up against Trump. Some clown or other, no doubt.

I’m sure I watched some egregious shyte on TV in the last 24 hours, but I can’t remember what it was. The lowlight was New South Wales premiere Dominic Perrotet getting down on his knees and begging for forgiveness for wearing a (gasp) Nazi Uniform at his 21st birthday party. OH MY GOD! Prince Harry wore a halloween Nazi costume once, does he have get down and grovel to everyone now? Well, we know it’s not everyone don’t we? It was pathetic and demonstrates just who you can and cannot offend in this clown world. Anyhoo, this track I’m listening to now started off sounding like James Brown’s Funky Good Time, but then it changed course completely. There’s a lotta notes on this record. I haven’t picked up a guitar today, I’m still trying to figure out why I can’t get any sound out of my DAW. I’m going to order a new (second hand) motherboard. A slight upgrade to the one I have, which worked fine, and then one day just started to have a slow nervous breakdown. I still am not convinced that this floor isn’t haunted. I was attempting to load something up on TV last night, and the soundbar started playing some music. It lasted about two seconds, but it should not have happened. There wasn’t a rational explanation for it at all. Nothing else was running that would make it emit any sound. It was kind of creepy, yet I wasn’t freaked out funnily enough.

This TV is in my bedroom too. I don’t usually have a TV where I sleep, but I’m painting the room where it usually is, so I had to move it somewhere. My bedroom is now a sleeping/TV room, plus a poltergeist perhaps. Fuck it, I don’t care. They can all fuck off. This is a good track, it’s called Scatterbrain. See, I’m going nowhere fast today, listening to Jeff Beck and remembering what it was like when I first heard this album. That’s what’s creepy about music sometimes. You listen to songs from 40 years ago, and it’s like you’re back there again. Weird man. This album has good memories though, but it’s melancholy now because the tune is a sad one, and the composer has gone to the great Rock and Roll show in the Sky. It’s the perfect send -off. Listen below..(the “on vinyl” refers to the playback medium, it’s not the name of the track.)
