the company behind Bovaer claims it could reduce cow methane emissions by between 30-45 percent. The idea is that the additive stops the bacteria in cows’ stomachs from producing methane. It’s been found to reduce methane emissions by up to 27% (depending on the cow management system of each farm).

Who gave these people persmission to do this? Did they ask anyone if they wanted extra chemicals in their dairy products? Farmers in Denmark are reporting that their cows get sick from it. Multiple farmers have reported a large percentage of cows getting sick and some even dying, which the farmers attribute to Bovaer, which is mandatory in Denmark.

For some reason I decided to switch over to organic milk about a year ago, and I’m glad I did. It’s banned in organic products. I’ll have to read every fucking label that might have the very benign sounding (not) 3-Nitrooxypropanol additive in it.
