Oh no, how will we survive? Where’s whatsis name? I literally can’t remember the guy’s name…..Julian Assange, that’s who. Isn’t he a big human rights campaigner? What has happened to Jules? We need to find out. There’s an enormous entry for Assange on Wikipedia, far too much information for someone who didn’t do much at all except whine about things, run away and hide in an embassy for almost a decade, and violate the Espionage Act. Fucked if I know. He’s disappeared. Is he writing a book? What’s going on? I don’t care. What were we talking about again? Oh yes, the withdrawal of the US from the United Nations Human Rights Council. What do these people actually do, you might ask?

According to it’s website “The Human Rights Council is the main intergovernmental body within the United Nations responsible for human rights. Established in 2006 by the General Assembly, it is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe.” Every year they have this event called “The Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition”. That’s a joke because as far as I know Nelson Mandela was a domestic terrorist.

Here are the winners of last years contest, Gayathree and Ayushi, from the University of Oxford, UK.
“The competition is an annual event in which students from around the world come together in Geneva to argue a hypothetical human rights case.” Sounds fascinating…not. The Council’s Membership is based on equitable geographical distribution. Seats are distributed as follows:
Eastern European States: 6 seats
African States: 13 seats
Asia-Pacific States: 13 seats
Latin American and Caribbean States: 8 seats
Western European and other States: 7 seats
Since the US probably pays for most of this nonsense, we’re not represented very well I would think. Good luck keeping it going now that Uncle Sap has cut off the money spigot.

Everything I know, (which arguably isn’t much) about Human Rights organizations seems to result in my human rights being eroded, but they may actually be doing some good, although it could just be window dressing, who knows?
For example, “on 27 May 2021, the Human Rights Council held a special session on “the Grave Human Rights Situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem” and adopted the resolution “Ensuring respect for international human rights law and international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel”. Given that nothing much has changed over there in four years, and in fact has gone steadily to hell, they don’t appear to be very effective.

But, but, but…. What a about Climate Change you might ask? Within minutes of each other both the ABC and the BBC were pushing their climate change hoax this morning. It’s become a game now. Give me a dollar for every time they talk about this, and I’ll be rich man very soon. Here’s another nice story from PBS about Trump and Musk’s Doge shutting down USAID which is basically an international money pit to further Marxist and progressive ideology around the globe. ““It’s been run by a bunch of radical lunatics. And we’re getting them out,” Trump said to reporters about USAID on Sunday night.”

So the Grammys were on a couple of days ago. Nobody really cares about it. Even the left wing cartoon show the Simpsons made fun of it a long time ago. It’s just more record company bullshit. The last time it was (maybe) relevant was when Elvis won a Grammy for Best Sacred Performance in 1967 for “How Great Thou Art.” (I think )CeCe Winans emerged as the big gospel album winner this year, with her album, “More Than This”. To put this all into perspective, Beyonce has won more Grammys than anyone so far with a total of 32 wins. The somewhat obscure Polka king, Jimmy Sturr has earned 18, including 13 wins for Best Polka Album.

Would you like to see my pool?
When touring, Jimmy’s band rides in a 45-foot customized tour bus, previously owned by Billy Ray Cyrus. We really need a picture of this. Update….He’s got rid of Billy Ray’s bus. I was looking at Jimmy’s website and there’s a lot of stuff with him just sitting around telling stories. I was particularly taken by this one where Jimmy’s talking about the Jordanaires, Elvis’ original gospel backing group. You see how everything ties in here? I also enjoyed the random panning shot of Jimmy’s enormous swimming pool that for no reason at all was inserted into the video. Bizarre.
Jimmy Sturr the Polka KIng has won 18 Grammys..yes, 18!
